With over 600 people present from communities as well as businesses, public bodies and third sector organisations, and keynotes from the economist and author of Doughnut Economics, Kate Raworth, and the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, Derek Walker, it was a pleasure to attend and have a stand at the inaugural Wellbeing Economy Cymru conference in Swansea this week to showcase the work of the Public Map Platform and its wider applicability.

The conference aimed to highlight Wales’ progress, at local, regional and national level, in developing the wellbeing economy. It also helped to grow everyone’s understanding of what we mean when we talk about Wellbeing Economics, why it’s no longer appropriate to pin all our hopes on ‘economic growth’ if we want a Wales that cares for people and planet.

There is synergy between Public Map Platform at Wellbeing Economy Cymru in that we’re both advocating for a wellbeing economy and a shift into thinking and acting more holistically. We look forward to contributing to the conversations going forward.

Working towards a future that prioritises the wellbeing of people and planet.
Public Map Platform is being led by Cambridge, Cardiff and Wrexham Universities and is part of the Future Observatory - the Design Museum’s national research programme for the green transition. The project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
